Original Oil Paintings by Texas Artist Leslie Sealey
Leslie: It's so neat to see a flower from a new perspective. Really cool concept!
b- I think this painting is a modern look at a subject that's been painted in the same old way for ages. Not that the "same old way" can't be beautiful (look at Henri Fantin-LaTour's flower paintings as an example). However, isn't there room for something new? Whether people like it or not, I have to follow my own vision. Even in the art world, being different isn't always appreciated. Thanks!
Leslie: This is awesome! I love seeing the detail on the underside of the flower. You always have such interesting perspectives! The reflections must have been really tricky to figure out. I really like the color of the flower juxtaposed with the silver bowl.
Thanks, Curtis! I think this might make a really cool series. The reflections were much easier to paint than the flower. I just look at them as abstract shapes and don't try to figure them out. The flower, on the other hand...let's just say it was very challenging!
