Nocturne

SOLD
oil on panel, 9x12"
After taking a much-needed break, I decided to get back to painting. This nocturne is from imagination; I wanted to paint something based on a feeling and not worry too much about detail.

I love that you paint from your imagination. I haven't done that in a while. Beautiful painting!

I love the subtle hint of grass on the bottom corner! Looks like I'm seeing the beginning, or ending of some inclement weather, based on that mood...

I don't know, have you ever painted
outside in the dark, with a headlamp on, some spare flashlight close at hand a red light to paint after mixing the "right" color and riding back home full expectation to see what you've painted?

Nothing can beat that.

Never the less, this is a nice piece Leslie.

Leslie, it's wonderful! (and welcome back from a well-deserved hiatus)

I look at this and get " a peaceful, easy feeling."

OMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Good eye, B.G.! That is a really subtle detail, and I wasn't sure if it would show up well in the jpeg.

René, I actually have painted outside at night, going back and forth with a flashlight. Once was enough, lol!

Thank you, Mr. Wana! I think the time off did some good.

outstanding.

Leslie, a truly calming and beautiful painting. Hard to believe it is from your imagination but you must be "in the zone"!!

And a beautiful piece it is, Leslie! I love to work from imagination, trusting your memory and your soul as your muse. Good stuff!

Thanks Sheila, it was definitely a "zone" painting.

Lori, thanks! I wish they would all turn out like this.
Maybe I need to trust my instincts more.

Hi Don, thanks! I may let the muse handle more of the work from now on. ;- )

Speaking of gray... You have such a way with it. Makes the little spots of pure chroma look stunning.
