Into the City
Oil on Panel, 18x24" Here's one I just finished; it's kind of an experimental piece. I glued paper to a birch panel, giving it a wrinkled texture. Then, I applied several layers of traditional gesso and toned the panel a warm brown. The top part of the painting (the curved freeway) was inspired by a photo my brother took for me, and I made up a cityscape to go with it.

I like it a lot and the piece below. They have a very abstract feel to them.
Glad you are feeling better. if you had that horrible cold/flu that has been going around the country I know how you felt. Been there.
Wow, the masonry actually looks rough-textured! Nice job on the atmospheric fog, too.
Yay! Nice to see you're able to be back at it!
I like seeing your cityscape work too!
Sandra, I'm sorry you had to deal with that nasty flu-that's what I had. I'm so glad it's over! I have been reading that it is getting resistant to the Tamiflu medicine-interesting, because I was on that and it was hard to tell if it really helped or not.
Hi Jason, I'm glad to be back. Thanks!
Thanks BG! The fog was one of my favorite things about this; I think it created more depth by contrast with the freeway.
I like the effect of your experiment. I also love the open space. Very nice!
It looks authentic, made up or not. It has a feeling, an atmosphere, that I like, like you could have actually been there. Good work.
Hope you're well.
Ah ha, i started understand your style: you love line elements in your composition, aren't you? =)
Thanks Dani!
Thanks A. Decker; I am glad it feels authentic. I hope people will come on in and have a look around in my paintings. : )
Hi Yangy Tham! Yes, line is a major element in my work. That, and different shapes playing off one another. Cityscapes seem to fit my design sensibility.
Ah, cool, i love to design my artwork using lines and shapes too!
Absolutely beautiful! Outstanding.
Thank you, Neil!
This is a fantastic piece! I never thought I would see a painting with this subject matter and absolutely love it!!
Thanks!
