Original Oil Paintings by Texas Artist Leslie Sealey
Wow! I like this one, Leslie. What do I like about it? Well, I like the composition, use of colour, and the loose style in which it has been executed. It's an effective and eye-catching piece for sure.
Thanks! I scraped off the first attempt, but it left a really nice underpainting with some interesting textural effects. The second layer was mainly about trying to put down clean colors and not over-mixing.
I love the koi; the movement and colors; VERY nice!
Hi Carol,Thanks for the nice comment; I was pretty happy with the way it turned out!

René, you always make me smile. Thanks!
Hi Roxanne-I sure am glad I stayed with this one! The water was so clear and sparkly, and I'm glad I captured that feeling in paint.
been caught up in work, but it was nice to visit here and see all the new work. You are on fire! Keep it coming in 2007- happy new year!-s
Thanks Scott! Happy New Year to you, too!
Hi Leslie,Long time no comment. Really like the koi piece. They're beautiful creatures and so friendly. A friend I know recently lost five of them due to hiring someone who didn't know what they were doing while cleaning their pond. Somehow they suffocated when he placed them in a temporary pail of water. Very sad.On a happier note ... hope you have a great new year. Will return here soon to see more great work.Take care and congrats on your gallery show!
June, thank you! I check your blog frequently and I'm anxious to see the direction your new work takes. I hope you have a happy and prosperous new year!
