Twinkle Toes

SOLD

Here we see world famous Hippozzaner Twinkle Toes performing the levade, a difficult move in which the hippo lifts his front feet and maintains a 45 degree angle from the ground. The levade, and other exercises known as "Airs Above The Ground" originated as moves used in battle. Only strong, athletic hippos are selected for this special training.

Hi René! Yes, I am completely nuts and I can't fight it anymore-it feels so liberating! ; - )
Glad you enjoy the work.

Thank you ,Dean. I have a lot of work to do; there are many more hippos on the way.

Craig, I'm so glad you said that! I love making up the commentary; it's a funny way to share all the horse knowledge I acquired growing up. Strange, how things come full-cirle!

I love the expression on this hippo's face. She looks so proud of herself. Fantastic stuff, and I definately agree that there is a children's book in here somewhere!

Nice, I remember the Disney movie well.

Thanks David! It makes me so happy to paint these, and when other people enjoy them too it makes my day. I have had many comments about a children's book! Maybe a direction will present itself; right now I'm skipping around so much it would have to be called "Hippos of The World" or something like that. Mabe we'll need several books, one for each "family" of hippos. : )

Thanks, Bill! I thought this one was exceptionally graceful, for a hippo.

I love your pics of hippos in unexpected settings.....

If that rodeo rider looked any more like me, I'd be buying one in a flash.... :-)

I love your more serious work, too....

The hippos are really taking off. There will be more, and they will be bigger paintings...I wish I could get them all done in a couple of months, but it will take time. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it! : )
